Summary of April and May
Well, it’s time! I accomplished so many goals these last two months, and I’m super proud of myself, yet you may know I’ve been very sick to this day: whenever I went out to do an activity out of my “usual”, I was getting sick the same day with high temperatures due to my exhaustion. One of the hardest days was when I went out to play basketball (this is becoming my way to disconnect from arts) and I got 39-40º of fever for an entire week with only 30 minutes of play… it was definitely a bad sign! My health has always been a bit so-so, but I’ve never been this bad. It seems I was getting this sudden episodes of fever because I’m preeeeeeetty low on vitamins, I was even asked if I passed away recently (probably yes but because Kageyama makes me jump from my sit and lose my mind, he’s a genius) and also, a bit anemic o(-< *lies down* I’ve been medicated for a month, but I still have one more month ahead of pills *now I cry*. It has been hard, the first week of May was a complete mess because of my condition; I had vertigo from walking, I couldn’t stand normally without getting extremely dizzy on top of losing valance and having the feeling I was going to pass away randomly anytime. If you ask me, I don’t have the best… nutrition, it’s just that, but it went too far this time T__T) Thankfully I’m so much better now, that’s why I can be here updating my newsletter! I only have random dizziness, it feels like when you’re in the sea and the waves hit you from there and here, that’s how I’m writing this now *LAUGHS But don’t worry, I’m definitely doing better!
Now going to the subject, these past months I’ve had the pleasure to work on a few things, and I was invited to participate in some others: let’s start with the XPPEn promo illustration! My first collaboration with a brand (!!?!?!?!?!) I was asked to make a drawing with one of their tablets, I decided to choose their Artist 10 2nd gen tablet, my very first screen tablet too. At first, it was confusing to be drawing on it, I've always been using the same tablet since forever and never tried a screen one before, with this new one from XPPen it made me feel like I was drawing on paper. Of course, I still have it at home, I would like to keep trying and experiment with it, it’s super handy and cute ToT)
I made this illustration for them, I was feeling very shoujo that day <3
Besides of this, on my last newsletter I showed two previews of works I made for different projects. One of these is finally out and printed! “LOOP #3 Money” a spanish videogame magazine, I had the pleasure to illustrate an Animal Crossing article. Let me show you one of the pics from one of the illustrations:
They look very cute, it’s one of my favorite works of this year… I don’t think I can top this ^o^) I did my best! If you’re interested, you can order this magazine over here or grab it digitally too!
Do you think that’s ALL? With my very LAST energy (for real, because right after it, I took a month of hiatus lol which wasn’t really a work of hiatus because of deadlines and stuff) I wanted to join a twitter contest - which I lost-. Run by Makeship, the idea was designing a plushie we would like them to make, and the prize was getting it along with some codes to use at their shop or whatever, all I wanted was seeing my puppy Bobi becoming real!
This is a long plan goal but, I really would like to make this into a plushie. I’ve no rush at all, and I’m very busy this summer but, I’ll eventually ask around… do you like this idea? Do you think it’ll be something people would like to own? I’ve to start farming money to save for this dream, haha!
And finally, I was accepted to participate in two different comic anthologies besides of another one I’ll have to make an illustration for. I can’t talk about these works yet, but on the next update for sure ^u^) As you see, my summer will be pretty busy, linearting and finishing comics pages… I want to take it easy, but the deadlines for both are the same days, so now if you excuse me… o(-< *lies down again*
Goku! Give me the strength I need to face these works as I finish coloring my new comic book! Oh, and I still want to make the room tour post I talked about last time too… GOKU!!
Recommendation of the month
“Pass the Baton” is the perfect comic for this pride month! Drawn by Hana Chatani and Published by Short Box, tells the story of a woman who sees a young kid getting rejected by the person he loves and right after it, she saws him again with a very gloomy stare on his face. This memory of both of them persist on time, and they casually see each other again after a very long time, but there’s something different now.
You can still find this comic at ShortBox site!
