Happy new year guys!!
Thank you so much for sticking around with me one more year! Oh, well this sounds weird as this newsletter has been active for one month, but you know what I mean <3 Whenever the place you found me and decided to smaaashhh the follow button, old to the new people who’s here, thank you so much for everything you do! Hope you’ve a wonderful 2023!!!
This time of the year we all make a list of our favorite books we’ve read, movies we loved and of course why not: art summaries. The most common one is that with all the months all together, and a piece of art we’ve made. I was about to make that one until I saw this template (by @/sabattons on twitter) which is super lovely and positive: my 2022 artist wrapped
He-he, I really love how it looks with just two drawings. It really makes it look more special and complete with all these details! It helped me stop to mental summarize my year to write my goals for 2023. Let’s see if we can make it!
And now, do you remember our friend Mary? Yes! That maid girl who recently accepted to work on a newsletter…
(The first page can be read on this newsletter update.)
Mary feels unmotivated to start with this work, but she will do fine! A new character is about to be introduced, next time ^o^)/
Summary of December works & what’s coming
So now, it’s time to talk about what I’ve been doing this December (2022). This is something I’ve said before, this newsletter is to have track of what I make, similar to my Patreon public summaries. I'm really happy with everything I've accomplished for myself artistically speaking, and everything I managed to offer at Patreon. For those who don’t know, we have established a nice schedule for it, which have worked nicely all this year:
A monthly poll to choose an illustration to make a phone wallpaper out of it. Usually, I decide 4 themes to choose from (patrons decide one from it) depending on what I would like to draw. We’ve made original wallpapers, and recently on the loop with Ghibli themed. I don’t think I’ll draw an illustration of aaaall the movies, but I’ve a few more we will decide together. This December, we’ve made this original Howl’s moving castle wallpaper. It looks lovely on my phone <3
Something else I always share there are discounts for INPRNT, and depends on how I’m doing, commissions and shop discounts. My shop is always open digitally, with these phone wallpapers -out to the public- and comics as PDF. Whenever I’ve a physical opening, the discount goes directly to it, as I’ve had original penciled comic pages available there. For this 2023, I’ll do the same but for now, the discount is only active for Ko-fi commissions. To not make this newsletter look like a Patreon spam, I won’t be writing about these discounts every time, but only when I open commissions or re-open my shop with prints, stickers and comics ^u^ )
Work updates, this is to make short updates so my patrons can have track of how I’m doing with my comics as I only update it once a month (and I used to make weekly comic posts *???dies it was unhealthy). If I ever get accepted to participate on anthologies, or something new I can talk about, I use these works updates to talk about it too. So usually, I write one or two monthly.
Monthly sketchbook with miscellaneous arts. The name of this section remains the same for ages, it used to be sketchbook scans (like this one) but now I just put everything all together, so it doesn’t really looks like a sketchbook but a compilation of the drawings -finished or not- I’ve made! I should rename it to something else… but Patreon has an awful tagging system.
Y-But Pa, don’t take this personal, but we don’t really care about Patreon.
P-Of course you don’t! But this was necessary to introduce the most important part of this newsletter!!
Y- and is…?
YEEEES!! The time has come!!!!!!!!!!
An important announcement I’ve been working on!!!!!!
As some of you may know, I’ve been working on my largest and most recent comic called “Bibi” , indoors of Patreon, we’ve worked very hard on this project! Let me explain what we have done together:
“Bibi” comic updates, monthly every 29th. The process is very simple, at the begging of this year I’ve been writing and planning episode 1 and 2 (of 4), posted the pages all sketched and of course, the finished pages. I would like to explain bits of it with this newsletter too, for the next episodes! Of course, as this is something I work for Patreon, I won’t be sharing finished works out of there but previews and such for you all.
So with this said, I would like to make this announcement…
The first volume of “Bibi” will be available out of Patreon this January!
The ideal planning for it is to have it done by my birthday (28th January), but it’ll be out later after it. A total of 100 pages, chapter 1 and 2, all together in a single volume both as a digital purchase and limited printed pre-orders. These limited copies will be available at the same time the digital PDF is up to the public, by the 30th. Printed copies will be shipped once I receive all the orders, so everything must be ready by that day! *screams*
In the meanwhile, I’m going to draw a special cover for this volume along with the cover for chapter 2 and design some extras that will go with it. Besides, I’ve around 30 pages left to finish and a side contract work I’m working at the same time. Cheer for me, this is going to be a hard month but all my work will be worth it <3
And now the last part, something I asked with a poll at Twitter…
Recommendation of the month
I want to make a good use of my newsletter to share indie comics I’ve liked and read, either the same month of the update or some I’ve read in the past. If I ever run out of tittles, I’ll also share not indie comics and maybe a game or two <3
Let’s go with this comic I absolutely loved:
“Misery Loves Company” is an original comic by Serena (apple_toast) based on her adventures with her friends, on their own D&D campaigns. The main character Ikke, who’s past hunts him the most, needs to survive and adapt to the cruelty of the world.
This comic totally screams awesomeness by itself, you can make comics out of everything! I really love how original every character is, maybe this is the magic of D&D <3 If you’re interested in it, Serena has been sharing this comic at Tapastic , totally free to read there and it’s pretty large! It’s very impressive to hold it, I’ll always love printed over digital.
And that’s all I wanted to say this time!
But wait, I’m still missing something I wanted to say last time? Sure, but this is too large now *LAUGHS*
See you next time friends, and thank you so much for subscribing to this newsletter.
Next time?
